"Slow Train Coming" -- An Invasion U.S. Adventure

Pages 28-31, plus one play-map

A group of American rebels have discovered that a train with a priority clearance will be passing through their area in a few hours, and would be a perfect target for the rebels, especially if they can stop it and steal whatever is so valuable aboard it. What they discover, however, will change everything....

This was the second of the two adventures I had published in this issue of Space Gamer/Fantasy Gamer. "Invasion U.S." was an offshoot of the SF rpg Fringeworthy put out by Tri Tac Games, and as far as I have been able to find out, mine was the only mini-adventure ever published that was written specifically for the spin-off game.

The play map included with the adventure is purely a result of my imagination, but the place names are all taken from real life: Cuddy, Carnegie and Bridgeville were all local communities nearby to where I lived when I wrote the article, as was the rail line cutting across the map--I walked that particular line too many times to count. It was natural that when I stopped one day, looked around at the terrain and thought "This would be a perfect place to ambush a train" that I take that notion and turn it into an adventure.
