Detective-Investigator Tom Mackenzie

Thomas Allister Mackenzie is a Detective-Investigator in the Fifth Precinct. He carries a 9mm Glock 19 police-issue service sidearm and is partnered with Detective-Investigator Karen Marx. He has a sturdy face and brown eyes, is married, faithful, and has two children: a girl, Tamara (age 10) and a boy, Aaron (age 6). His wife Selma (her parents marched with Martin Luther King in Alabama) likes to quilt, and always gives them out as gifts every year.

He lives in the "inner suburbs" and catches public transit to work. He has a cousin Frank in Lancaster, and his major weakness is that he is always making bets with his partner, Lt. Marx, that he invariably loses.

He first appeared in "The One Dollar Caper"* in Woman's World magazine, January 28, 2003. He has also appeared in "Fast Fingers and Coffee" in Futures Mystery Anthology Magazine, May 12, 2007 and again in "A Killing Season"** in Woman's World magazine, September 1, 2008.
