Michael Bendix

Michael Collins Bendix is a bookseller who owns and runs The Tome Recycler used bookshop on Henry Street, between Catherine and Market, across from Victor's Coffeeshop. He dabbles in writing science fiction, but has never gotten anything published. A widower, his wife was killed in a car crash. He is currently single.

He has two older sisters who never approved of his wife, and are trying to run his life. He owns the building that The Tome Recycler occupies; he lives upstairs from the store, which occupies the ground floor. His apartment is done over in the Arts and Crafts style; he lives without a television, and gets his news from the radio and the newspapers delivered to the bookstore. He is a big supporter of National Public radio. He drives a 1974 Limited Edition Porsche 914 converted to run on batteries as an all-electric car.
